According to Brendan Klinkenberg on BuzzFeed, Apple will withdraw the moderately popular themed radios service until now maintained as free emission (with ads), but that will be exclusive to users of payment of Apple Music on January 29. Apple confirmed in a statement the movement.
The movement leaves Beats 1 as the only station that Apple keeps open. And surely has much to do with the recent abandonment of iAd by Apple. iTunes Radio has dozens of stations of different styles, in which the user cannot control what will be later, and proceed to a more passive listening.
It remains to be seen if they continue to maintain the same number of channels, or if reaches the expansion of ‘Beats’ in a multiple-station network.
